Biology 101

I was not prepared for this conversation.  And even after rethinking my answers…I’m still freaking out at the possibility of being asked for more info.  It’s not that I mind him knowing…it’s that he will tell EVERYONE…

Here’s how it happened…

“Mom, how will the baby get out of your tummy?”

“All moms have a baby door”

“Where is it?”

“God gave moms a very special place for their baby doors”

“Can I see it?”

“No”

“What if it doesn’t open and it breaks?”

“That’s why moms go to the doctor so much, so doctors can make sure that moms are healthy and when its time, the baby door will work”

“How do moms open the baby door?”

“They push it open”

“Like a button?”

“No, not like a button”

“Does it hurt the baby?”

” (quietly) Not as much as it hurts the mommy…”

“What?”

“Nothing.  No it doesn’t hurt the baby”

“Does the baby just fall on some carpet?”

“No, the doctor is there to catch the baby”

“Maybe he will drop your baby”

“I don’t think so.  Doctors don’t drop babies, they are very careful”

“How did the baby get INTO your tummy?”

“God made the baby there.  Want some ice cream Parker??!”

“Sure!”

HOLY COW!!!!!  Is that too much information?!  I can’t handle this…

  1. Perfect answer! And secretly I was just glad to hear it wasn’t from something Judah told him!

  2. Hehe! That is so cute! He is such a smart kid. I think you handled it perfectly, with the ice cream diversion in JUST the right place!

  3. Hahaha…that is great! Very cleaver on your part too. If I were in your situation I probably would have said ask your dad, he’s the doctor. :) Hope all is well for the Hebda family of 4. :)

  4. LOL That is so funny! You sound like you think fast
and handled it well. Hopefully he won’t need a further
    explanation any time soon.
